Liability Waiver
This waiver explains the risks of surf retreats, remote tropical travel, ocean activities, excursions, transportation, and voluntary participation at Natural Mystic Pavones.
Last updated: May 2026
Adventure should feel clear, not casual about risk.
Pavones is beautiful because it is wild, ocean-led, and remote. This page helps guests understand that the same qualities that make the retreat special also require personal responsibility.
Ocean risk is real
Surf, swimming, boating, rocks, currents, tides, marine life, and changing weather involve risks that cannot be removed completely.
Guests know their own limits
Each guest is responsible for sharing relevant health information and choosing activities that fit their ability and comfort.
Guidance supports safety
Instructions from guides, captains, instructors, drivers, staff, and local partners must be followed during retreat activities.
Participation is voluntary
Guests may sit out activities, but choosing to participate means accepting the ordinary and inherent risks of travel and adventure.
Adventure travel includes conditions we cannot fully control.
Natural Mystic Pavones retreats may include surfing, swimming, beach time, boat or vehicle travel, walking on uneven terrain, waterfall visits, wildlife exposure, tropical weather, remote roads, shared lodging, chef-prepared meals, and other indoor or outdoor activities. These experiences can be rewarding, but they also involve inherent risks.
By booking, traveling to, or participating in a retreat, you acknowledge that injury, illness, property loss, delays, discomfort, emotional stress, emergency evacuation, or other unexpected outcomes can occur. You voluntarily accept those risks for yourself and, if applicable, for any minor or dependent participant for whom you are responsible.
Ocean conditions can change quickly and may include waves, currents, tides, rocks, reefs, boards, fins, marine life, and other surfers or swimmers.
Remote tropical travel can involve insects, wildlife, heat, sun exposure, rain, slippery surfaces, power or service interruptions, and limited medical access.
Transportation may involve local roads, weather delays, boats, vehicles, drivers, and third-party operators outside Natural Mystic Pavones' direct control.
Guests agree not to hold the retreat responsible for inherent risks.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, each guest releases Natural Mystic Pavones, its owners, staff, contractors, guides, instructors, captains, drivers, hosts, property owners, local partners, affiliates, successors, and representatives from claims arising out of ordinary negligence, inherent activity risks, guest decisions, third-party services, travel disruptions, weather, surf conditions, illness, injury, property loss, or circumstances outside Natural Mystic Pavones' reasonable control.
This waiver does not attempt to waive rights that cannot legally be waived. It is intended to make clear that guests are participating voluntarily, understand the environment, and accept the risks that naturally come with surf retreats, travel, and adventure-based activities.
Guests are responsible for their own travel documents, health readiness, medications, equipment choices, and insurance decisions.
Natural Mystic Pavones does not guarantee a risk-free experience, a specific surf result, a particular itinerary outcome, or uninterrupted third-party travel service.
Guests agree to be responsible for costs related to their own medical care, evacuation, travel interruption, property loss, or emergency needs unless a written agreement or applicable law says otherwise.
Tell us what we need to know before the retreat starts.
Guests must provide accurate information about allergies, dietary needs, medical conditions, injuries, pregnancy-related concerns, medications, mobility limitations, prior surf or swimming experience, emergency contacts, and any other facts that could affect safe participation. Providing this information does not guarantee that every request can be accommodated, but it helps the team plan responsibly.
Each guest is responsible for deciding whether to participate in any activity. If a guest feels tired, uncomfortable, unwell, unsafe, or unsure, they should pause, ask questions, or sit out. Natural Mystic Pavones may also limit or restrict participation when staff believe it is necessary for guest, group, ocean, transportation, or community safety.
Guests should consult a medical professional before travel if they have health concerns about surf, heat, remote travel, physical activity, or international travel.
Guests must not participate while impaired by alcohol, drugs, medication side effects, exhaustion, or any condition that creates unreasonable risk.
Guests should carry personal medications, prescriptions, glasses or contacts, sun protection, and any needed health documents or insurance information.
Safety depends on shared judgment and respect.
Guests agree to follow reasonable safety instructions from Natural Mystic Pavones staff, instructors, guides, captains, drivers, property hosts, and local partners. This includes instructions about surf conditions, boat or vehicle loading, activity boundaries, equipment use, meal or allergy precautions, wildlife, community conduct, and when an activity should be modified or stopped.
In an emergency, Natural Mystic Pavones and its representatives may seek medical care, transportation, evacuation support, or other assistance for a guest when the team believes it is reasonably necessary. The guest remains responsible for related costs not otherwise covered by insurance or a separate written agreement.
Guests also agree to indemnify and hold harmless Natural Mystic Pavones from claims, damages, costs, or expenses caused by the guest's own actions, failure to follow instructions, inaccurate disclosures, damage to property, illegal conduct, or harm to another participant, staff member, local partner, or third party.
Respect for the home, staff, community, local culture, other guests, equipment, and ocean environment is required.
Unsafe, abusive, harassing, discriminatory, illegal, or disruptive conduct may result in removal from an activity or retreat without refund.
Travel insurance with medical and evacuation benefits is strongly recommended before attending the retreat.
